POP-BEIJING HOLDS PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST ENTITLED, “WINTER SHOOT”
The Pinoy Overseas Photographers in Beijing (POP Beijing) braved Beijing’s freezing weather and held a photography contest aptly called, “Winter-Shoot” on 05 February 2012 at Jiankou Great Wall, as part of the organization’s monthly activity.
With the theme “It’s Always Fun with POP Beijing”, inspired by the Philippines’ new catchy tourism slogan, three (3) of the 19 entries from eleven (11) POP-Beijing members were chosen for the top awards.
To choose the top three photos, POP-Beijing asked the help of three (3) distinguished Filipinos based in Beijing, namely, First Secretary and Consul Myca M. Fischer from the Philippine Embassy, Mr. Jaime Flor Cruz, CNN’s Beijing Bureau Chief and Ms. Perlita Pengson of the Canadian Embassy.
Based on the photos’ overall image, witty tagline and composition, Moe Twain’s (Owen Tiam) ‘Tree Hugging. It’s Always Fun with POP Beijing’ won first place. Renen Viola’s ‘Friendship ! It’s Always Fun with POP Beijing’ took the second place, while Mark Alvaran’s ‘D ka nag-iisa… It’s Always Fun with POP Beijing’ was awarded third place.
